Firstly, THE BANKING ISSUE. From your many phone calls to the office we are very aware of the concerns of our WI’s re Lloyd’s closing Treasurers’ Account for charities. There is nothing we can do for individual WIs. At Federation we are in the same situation and have already had a breakdown of charges we will incur. (So, please, if you’re paying for several events one cheque will do. Annotate reverse with breakdown of what cheque is for.) In the March ed of WI Life p.10 the NFWI Financial Director, Edward Adomako had good news having persuaded Lloyds, with pressure from WIs to accept a template letter for Federation to identify WIs as a charity. It would seem this no longer applies. I know Edward is still fighting our cause so emailing National f.a.o Edward might help his fight. The Santander option (sent to Treasurers) seemed good but there are queries about the last sentence beginning “All members”. We are attempting to clarify

Secondly, SUBS. 2026-27. There will be an overall increase of £3 to £54. WI Share £27.10 (+£2) Federation Share £12.55 (+0.50p) National Share £14.35 (+£1.) This split has implications for the financial challenges facing Federation. National’s projections suggest that eventually, possibly 2027-28, a larger increase will be inevitable. So, if your WI were to consider reducing the WI portion be aware that the need to do this might be greater in future years and take this into account with your budgeting, especially in view of banking charges. To finish. From January 1st the IFE charge to WIs will increase to £28.00.

I feel the bearer of much doom and gloom for which I apologise.
