You may remember how much we all enjoyed hearing The Whistle Testers perform their song “From Twinsets and Pearls to Calendar Girls” which is about the history of the WI at our 2022 Council Meeting last October.

The band have now updated the video and kindly allowed us to share it with you all

This is a song and short film by band celebrating the commitment and dedication of Women’s Institute members who were inspired to write the song after performing at a WI in Northumberland. The lyrics and images follow the history of the movement from its inception in Stoney Creek, Toronto, Canada in 1897 to the worldwide organisation it has become.

The Whistle Testers are a three-piece semi-acoustic band currently performing around Northeast England.
