I recently mentioned donations to the Federation and, as this was discussed by the Officers before going to print, I felt I ought to explain the reason for doing it. Most WIs (the exception being those who own their own halls and like Federation have not been receiving any income) have either paid a reduced hall hire or paid nothing during lockdown and neither have they had to pay for speakers whilst keeping almost half of the membership subscriptions they received at the beginning of the year. On the Federation side we keep less than half of the remainder of the subscriptions (the rest going to National) but we still have outgoings in the upkeep of Cresswell House, running of the Office etc, and in a normal year we rely heavily on the “big ticket” events to supplement our income. Subscriptions for 2021 have been extended until April so it will be some time before we receive our “normal” income next year. I hope that this makes our request more understandable. When lockdown is over the Federation is hoping to put on some events to help re-start social life for members and help funds. So watch this space… Thank you Norma
