g Springlike and ready to go ladies! The start of the new WI year is always an adventure and a chance to perhaps try new things – and our Federation is amazing for offering great events so please support as many as you can.
The Membership Support team are again holding ‘Workshops’ for Secretaries – those in post and possibly on the verge – and Presidents including those ladies who are considering taking on the role. We had large numbers at our last workshops, so please get the application forms filled in when they arrive to ensure your place. They sound rather boring, but we do try very hard to make them entertaining too!
Life is always full of peaks and troughs, and Advisers deal with the full range every year – plus everything in between – but this time of year is always eventful. The ‘troughs’ have been extremely sad, as we’ve had many Suspensions to preside over (Suspensions in WI language mean stopping, initially for a period of 2/3 years, before ending in complete closure). Many of these WIs have been long-standing, and the memories are rich and varied. Thankfully the friendships made within them seem to continue which is good to know.
Our Membership Support ‘peaks’ arrived in the form of three ladies who have completed the registration and very short online course to become Advisers, and now take on the additional training. We welcome them with open arms as the current team have been very thinly stretched recently.
Finally…as we seem to be dealing with many problems brought on by the fact that strong women working together can clash mightily at times…a little reminder of three helpful lines from the WI Code of Conduct that we should all keep in mind: *Extend tolerance and respect to and for others *Keep things in perspective *Have the right to make mistakes.
My husband reckons that WI stands for ‘Wild Indians’ and he may possibly be correct (which is most unusual!). Take care and have fun x
