Just when we thought that we might be able to get back to thinking about organising some meetings and gatherings, all hopes have been dashed and we find ourselves almost back to square one! However, it was very encouraging to learn that some WIs have been making plans especially since some halls have been opening up once again.
I cannot emphasise enough that staying safe and keeping well are two factors which are paramount at this time. We must remember that we are all volunteers and that there is no rush to open up buildings and have meetings. No WI Advisers will be going to any WIs for the rest of this year and we will just have to see what will happen in 2021.
I have already stated in a previous issue of Northumberland News what the treasurers and secretaries have to do instead of holding Annual Meetings. Since no planning can take place for any meetings in the foreseeable future, there is no need for anyone to worry about meetings. If anyone has any queries or worries, please ring myself (01665 578 533) or any of the other Advisers. Remember that we are here to help you at any time.
I appreciate that some WIs are able to to keep in contact and have meetings by using Zoom but not every WI is able to do this for what ever reason. Therefore I would like to encourage all Presidents to get in touch with their committees and make a plan so that every committee member has a list of a few members who they can contact at least once a month by phone. I know that some committee members in some WIs are doing this but it is not happening everywhere. In that way every member will be contacted. Hearing a human voice can make such a difference to a person’s day especially if they are living alone. It is good to know that there is someone who is interested in their wellbeing.
Keep well and stay safe.
