WI Officers’ Workshops 2023 – Plans are going ahead for WI Officers’ Workshops in the coming year, the first being those for Treasurers, Assistant Treasurers and any members who may wish to take on that role in the future. They are being held on the following Saturdays:
• 25 February – Completing the Financial Statement
• 4 March – Treasurers’ Question Time
• 18 March – A General Workshop
All these sessions run from 10.30am until about 1.00pm and will contain information regarding the keeping of digital spreadsheets. The charge is £5 per WI irrespective of the number of members attending. Please complete the application form which is in your Secretary’s mail and return it to the Office by the closing date indicated. Workshops for Presidents and Secretaries will be held in June – details in due course.
Northumberland Newbies – New to the WI? Then come along to Cresswell House on Saturday 11 March 2023 at 10.00 am for a morning of coffee, cake, chat and FUN! No charge but there will be the usual raffle! The application form is with your Secretary for completion by the 28 February. Hope to see you then!
National Annual Meeting, Cardiff – Thursday 25 May. The revised Link List and full information regarding the National Annual Meeting and attendance by delegates and observers is with your Secretary. The timescale for us to notify our arrangements to National is very tight. Therefore, if your WI is eligible to send a delegate in 2023, or you wish to attend as an in-person observer, all deadlines must be strictly adhered to.
2023 Resolutions – Whenever you receive your copy of WI Life you will find the short list of resolutions. There are four of them this year There will also be a paragraph explaining more about each resolution. I do realise that it does not allow you a lot of time to give much thought to each resolution as the allotted time has been shortened and of course the National Meeting has been brought forward to May rather than in June as it has been in previous years. The resolution choices are:
1. Save our water – every drop matters
2. Women to women – turning over a new leaf in the lives of women tea workers
3. Online gambling harm: time for action
4. Clean rivers for people and wildlife
When you have decided on your choice please let your Secretary know as the results have to be sent to the Federation office by 14 February.                    No doubt you will all be planning and preparing for your Christmas activities and I do hope that you will all have a wonderful time.
On behalf of all the WI Advisers I wish you all a peaceful, healthy and extremely Happy Christmas and a bright and cheerful 2023.
