Celebrating the Coronation around the Federation
Alnmouth WI laid on a fabulous array of cakes and scones for members . Thanks to the WI Committee, all the ladies who helped bake, serve, and decorate the Hall. The afternoon culminated in a toast to King Charles III and a rendition of God Save The King. A big thank you also, to Northumberland County Council who allocated a grant for the celebration from the King’s Coronation Community Fund which went toward free refreshments.
Longhorsley WI entered into the Village Coronation Flower Festival groups were ask ed to create displays representing the King’s interests and the WI choose his love of Polo. Members Anne Thomas and Kathleen Jones did us proud adorning their wonderful arrangements with Polo Sticks, balls and helmets.
And look who turned up to Widdrington WI’s community Coronation afternoon tea!!!
Hexhamshire have lots to Celebrate – Margaret Illfe
On 5 April, Hexhamshire WI celebrated their 99th birthday at Bouchon in Hexham – a great night was had by all. Barbara Parker and Shirley Nixon have been members of the WI for 60 years and 55 years respectively. To mark this both received a certificate. We are very grateful for their work and support over the years. Barbara Parker has been an active member in Hexhamshire WI over the years. She has been a committee member and has been Secretary and Vice President.
Shirley Nixon, a highly valued member, has been our piano accompanist when needed and playing Jerusalem at meetings. She was also the Moorland group rep linking us with other local WIs.
WIddy Woods – Hearts Story
Ladies from Widdy Woods WI
Responded to the heartfelt cry![]()
From RVI hospital Palliative Care
That they were low on hearts to share
With those whose loved ones are
reaching the end,
Whose broken h
earts need help to mend.
Members knitted and sewed hearts galore
To help people remember the one they adore.
A gift to hold on to, in their sorrow
And help to ease their new tomorrow.
Your loved one isn’t far away
When you’ve a heart to hold today.

Review: Dinnington Village WI had an insightful talk about Humanism from Ian Hunter M: 07969 165 024 and what it means to him. He starts with a brief history of Humanism going back to 478-570BC with Xenophanes and Socrates. Also describing what he does as a practising Humanist. A great speaker and enjoyable talk.
