ITEMS FROM THE NORTHUMBERLAND ROOM AT DENMAN
At the end of October the items that were provided by Northumberland Federation for our room at Denman were returned to Cresswell House. I have been in touch with Jennifer Crisp who made the exquisite bed covers and matching cushion and she will collect them from Cresswell House in due course.
However, about eight years ago the Federation purchased several new items of furniture and furnishings which have now been returned and which we would like to offer to members under a sealed bid system where the item will of course go to the highest bidder.
In due course each WI will receive a copy of what is for sale along with photographs of each item, the dimensions and the lowest bid that we will accept to save anything going for a matter of just “coppers”. The items are in good order and the furniture is light oak. Full details of how to bid, when to bid and the closing date for bids will be available at the same time.
Hopefully this will make some money for the Federation and some of you will have a lasting memento of a lovely place which so many of you have enjoyed over the years.
You may be interested to know that the Hadrian’s Wall painting by Judith Taylor of Humshaugh which was donated to the Federation will in future hang at Cresswell House and the visitor’s book of comments that was in the room will go into the Federation archives.
Details of how to put in a bid. This information should be made available to all WI members and will be on our Facebook page and website.
Thank you to those of you who entered this year’s Lady Denman Cup Competition. Well done to all who entered and good luck to the three chosen to go forward who were:
