By the time you will have read this you will have been to see the great creations on show at Cresswell House for Jubilee themed competition day, if not at least viewed the pictures on Facebook?
Congratulations to those who won first place, especially to Rosie Harden-Vane of Cullercoats WI, who won the Kathleen Jones Memorial Cup for best lemon curd and to Louise Stubbs of Corbridge WI who won the Chairman’s Choice Cup and rosette with her handwritten National Anthem. Well done ladies, and a massive thanks to the whole Committee, who put in hours and hours of work beforehand to make it run so smoothly on the day. Along with the judges, they work all day, making sure everything is judged fairly, that the correct award goes with the correct item, then the correct person, prize cards, along with this year, the dazzling array of rosettes, which went to each first prize winner.
I hope you have your applications in for the Bread Making Demo, Summer Delights food and flowers event, as well as thinking about the Willow Weaving day in the autumn.
I hope you have sorted out your sewing machines for the Get to Know Your Sewing Machine day which leads nicely into the ‘7 ways with flying geese’, the first of many patchwork-focussed classes we have planned for next year. So come on ladies take that big step back in to doing something for you…see you soon, I hope.
At our last Committee meeting we firmed up our Festive Plans, yes, I know I bet you are sat in glorious sunshine reading this thinking…”Christmas really…?” Well yes these things need planning in advance. I won’t tell you exactly what you going to be doing but there will be paper, glue, greenery, some edibles, some singing and yes mince pies! The date for your diary is to be 10 December, so look out for the yellow paper in the future.
