As it’s closer to the clocks changing and lighter nights the Craft Committee are planning things towards the Summer and Autumn of this year (and a little beyond in some cases), events which we hope you will participate in.
We have our Buzzy Bee themed multi craft day on 18 May in Cresswell House, light lunch provided, priced at £30. Please come along and support us and the bees! You have 3 crafts to have a go at! What a great way to spend a Saturday amongst friends and fellow crafters. Closing date is 23 April, yellow sheet is already out.
Upcoming events are the Sushi Making workshop planned for 8 June £20, with a hands on experience which I hope will broaden our skills set! The yellow sheet is out with a closing date of 21 May.
Then we have the Pasta Making Workshop with the WI Life front cover star Karen Auty. I am thrilled to get her to come to our Federation, so please look out for the yellow sheet, which is out now, priced at £17, and planned for 17 August in Cresswell House. Closing date is to be 30 July.
These 3 events will all have a raffle to support our fundraising for the kitchen tech in Cresswell House. We are aiming to install closed link cameras to allow the ‘action’ on the hob and bench to be clearly seen by all attendees via two screens either side of the hob unit. So please if you can support us on the day..! if not don’t worry you’ll still have a great time at the events.
Whilst the Federation is not having a competitive crafts event currently, WIs can still enter WI specific competitions, especially at the Northumberland County Show on Saturday 25 May. It’s held at the showground in Bywell near Stocksfield, I believe the theme this year is ‘Afternoon tea’, so come on ladies let us show the wider public what cookery/bakery/jam making/craft making skills we have and are proud to show off. I shall have a special look out on the day to see who entered and how you did.. good luck!! More details via the County Show webpage on line.
As you can see, the Craft Committee combined their latest meeting with supporting Red Nose Day. Thankfully no one suggested I lie in a bath of baked beans…..
