Have you visited our new website? I do hope you have and more importantly, I hope that you liked the format. I have already had a President tell me that she found it very user friendly so I hope that goes for the rest of you.
If you have read this month’s WI Life (and I hope that you have) you will have seen that the Star Letter came from Warkworth WI about their tremendous work in making reusable sanitary pads and bags to be sent to girls of The Masai in Kenya. Well done to you all.
I have been asked by National to draw your attention to the printed invitation to a WI meeting which came with your September WI Life. The idea is that your own WI can personalise the invitation to give to prospective members. More information is on page 35 of WI Life.
The programme for the Christmas Celebration at the Cathedral is now well under way following a meeting between myself, Jenny McLean and Barbara Kilkenny from the Board and Canon Clare McLaren and Kate Sussams from the Cathedral. The Board of Trustees look forward to seeing as many members as possible at the event.
They do say that we can all do something, however small, to contribute towards helping the environment and we do not want to be seen as ignoring the call. To make a start, the next time you visit Cresswell House you will see that we have reverted to soap bars in the lavatories and kitchen pods and I hope that you all approve of the change.
In this month’s mailing to WIs from National there is information referring to MCS month in November (April is also an MCS month). It is extremely important that your MCS is kept up to date and that the Federation Office is aware of changes in your membership numbers because it is the information held on the MCS that we use to calculate the accommodation costs and out of pocket expenses for each delegate attending the National Annual Meeting each year and which in 2020 is in London.
The application form for the Chairman’s Christmas Coffee Morning at Cresswell House on Saturday 7th December is with your Secretary / Event Planner in this mailing.
Please do make sure that you read all the information that comes out to your WI because you wouldn’t want to miss a really cracking event just because you didn’t read everything available now would you? As Maya Angelou said “try to be a rainbow in somebody’s cloud” because we all need that friendly rainbow on our down days.
