Most of you will by now have had the reports from your link delegate on the Annual Meeting in Bournemouth and will know that both resolutions were passed with huge majorities. I hope that all of our delegates enjoyed the trip, I certainly did and for me it was very special as it was my first as your Chairman and therefore a meeting I will never forget.

Straight back from Bournemouth and it was Craft Competition Day and what a wonderful day it was. The standard of work was exceptional from all the entrants and so congratulations to all of you and many thanks also to the craft committee under the leadership of Karen Coleman in bringing it all to fruition. I can’t wait for the next competition day and as it is about Halloween do I need to get the pointy black hat out of the cupboard?

At the Council Meeting in April, I launched a Natter for Northumberland and you are coming up trumps as usual. Already I know that Whey Aye WI are having a coffee morning in July and half of the money raised is for Federation. The Cheviot Group have invited me to natter with them at their next Group meeting. Can I manage to natter do you think ladies?? I know of other WIs with ideas and of course there are the Chairman’s coffee events too so thank you all very much because the Board and I know how much you all need to raise money for your own WIs and we really do appreciate your support.

Westmoor Wonders celebrated their first birthday in style and got a picture in the Whitley Bay Guardian (no mean feat I can tell you) and I want to wish them and the other three first birthday WIs every success for the future, so Happy Birthday to Gosforth Central, Holystone Hinnies and Denton Dollies.

Now I was always told to end on a high but I have done the highs and therefore I am ending on an apology. There were two errors in the last mailing and hopefully you all received a message by email or telephone from me alerting you to the situation. It was a bit like the old Morecambe and Wise sketch, all the information and dates were there but not necessarily etc etc. The ACWW Food and Flowers event is on WEDNESDAY 11 September and not on Friday 13 and the Treasurer’s events are on the 17 and 20 but in JULY and not September. My apologies again and as the school report will say “MUST TRY HARDER”

Enjoy all the events you attend, I may see you at some of them.
