As some of you already know I am now back at number 12 having been fitted with a shiny new knee earlier this week. Well I say shiny but I don’t really know how shiny and there was no choice of colour either! Thank you to all of you who have sent messages, cards and flowers, they are very cheery and really appreciated, now I just have to keep up with the exercises and I will be doing the hokey cokey very soon.
I have now done the second Marj on the Move up at Bardon Mill where members were treated to a couple of humorous monologues and Moira’s husband Owen walking past us all at the village hall. Fabulous food as always ladies, thank you. The next one will be at Cresswell House and this time is an evening one on Wednesday 16 August to hopefully entice some of our working members, and then the final one will be at The Hindmarsh Hall in Alnmouth on Wednesday 13 September. I hope to be driving by then but I have made my arrangements to get to both venues whatever the situation so I shall be there ladies.
Membership Support have now completed this year’s training programmes with the final event being a New Members meeting recently. My thanks go to all the Advisers involved in these important events for WI Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers to be kept up to date and for our new members to learn more about this wonderful organisation that they have joined.
Our upcoming Federation events for which applications are with your Secretaries will be the last two Marj on the Move, the Literary Lunch at Hexham and then the Annual Council Meeting at the Royal Grammar School where our morning speaker will be the helmswoman from the Cullercoats Lifeboat Station and our afternoon entertainment will be the Baldy Holly Band with songs from the 50’s and 60’s so feel free to put on your dancing shoes and get ready to bop in the aisles!
Following the success of the recent John Lewis event in June they have offered to do another one late January 2024 with New Year New You theme. It will be after the sales, so new outfits for spring should be in ladies, and once again a Wednesday – possibly the 24 or 31 January. Please look out for more details in the next newsletter when we may have a definite date for you.
We also received a card with this lovely photograph of King Charles and Queen Camilla following our letter of congratulations to them prior to their Coronation in May.
The school holidays will be in full swing by the time you get this Newsletter so if you are going away, staying at home, looking after grandchildren or whatever you do, I hope you enjoy the break and that the weather decides to be very kind to us.
Thank you all once again for your good wishes and support and I hope to see
you soon.
Marj x
