As you read this letter the clocks will have moved to British Summer Time and you will be looking ahead to Easter and hopefully a lovely sunny one.
I decided to look back a year through my messages and it seems incredible that after the last two years it really does feel as though business as usual is almost back with us… whatever that normal is?
Certainly, for the Federation we are returning to events at Cresswell House and the ones held so far have been extremely well supported and successful. Rosie Harden-Vane’s first workshop for Treasurers and possible Treasurers was very well received and we have had fun with the “vicars” of Dibley. We learned about what to and what not to bin and the comments on the scones at the Food Hygiene course were phenomenal.
My very grateful thanks go to the organisers of all of these events and any others that I have not mentioned here. All of these events take a lot of hard work to get them to fruition and that hard work is down to a dedicated Board of Trustees and all the members of the various Committees. Please make sure you know about all of our events because there will be one tailor-made for you. If you do feel that there is something we don’t cover that you would like, then send us an email and I can promise you we will discuss it at Board level to see what we can provide. As I mention these events, I hope that you are all looking at what class(es) you could enter in our Jubilee Competition Day because there are classes for all including novices, partners and children – so get thinking and send in your entry / entries.
Later this year, and to prove that things are really getting back to normal, we will be having a Pledge Auction at Stannington so watch out for further details of the type of “lots” that would be good.
WI parties are always happening, and I have recently attended Acklington WI’s 100th birthday and what a fabulous evening it was! I also visited Prudhoe WI to celebrate (albeit two years late!) their 75th birthday. You really can’t stop a WI from having fun and celebrating events, now, can you?
You will also now know which resolution has been chosen to go forward to the Annual Meeting in Liverpool and all the delegates, whether they are attending in person or virtually, will need to know how the WIs that they represent vote. If your delegate is not attending your May meeting, please make sure that you let her have your result after your meeting for her to pass this on in Liverpool on Saturday 11 June.
Finally, I would like to wish you and your loved ones a very Happy and Peaceful Easter time and I look forward to seeing many of you during the course of this year.
