“What a difference a day makes” apt words from a well known song and here I am with yet another message for you all.
I appreciate that you will all realise that the information that has been sent out in the past couple of days has now been replaced by yesterday’s announcement from Government of the lockdown of seven authorities in the North East. Sadly the seven include Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland which means that ALL WI activities within our Federation are now suspended once again.
The October Newsletter is already being printed so some information in the letter is for the time being on hold. However we have still included the application for the paper cutting class in the hope that the current restrictions may be lifted in time for the classes to take place so if you fancy having a go at this lovely craft please complete and return your form in the usual way. It is also good to get the news from other WI’s and see what they have been doing.
Some WI’s had sent questions on exemptions from last week’s Rule of 6 (i.e., halls that were allowing multiple groups of 6 to meet and sports activities of more than six people) and I am continuing to pursue this with National and so any information received from them will be forwarded in the usual way ready, yet again, for when “our” restrictions are lifted.
I know that you will all show the strength and fortitude that is synonymous with the WI and I wish you, your families and loved ones all the very best for the next few weeks at least.
Finally if all else fails you can do either: Christmas( or was that Easter Moira?) face masks as Moira Bengtson is doing or as my son ( lives in the Lake District and should have been coming to see us next week) is doing, start your Christmas wish list to Santa. I know he’s 41 but like me he loves a list!
Stay safe and well ladies
