We have now passed the Vernal Equinox and so officially we can say that we have more daylight hours than darkness in each twenty four hours and that has to be enjoyed by us all.
WI Advisers are now in top gear as far as doing Annual Meetings are concerned, sometimes visiting at least three WIs each week so spare them a thought for all the hard work they are doing.
On the subject of Advisers and meetings you will now know the resolutions that are to be voted upon at the National Annual Meeting in June and yes I did use the plural resolutions as this year we shall all be voting on two of them. It has been quite a while since we had two but many of you will remember when it was quite common to have two each year.
The two “top” resolutions were More accessible public toilets and Action on women’s homelessness and the Public Affairs and Education Team are busy getting experts on these subjects together for our Resolution Meeting at Cresswell house on Wednesday 8th April from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. This is a free event and it would be lovely to see all delegates attend and learn more about the issues. Needless to say this event is open to all interested, not just the delegates and it would be wonderful to see a room full of members keen to learn more and ask questions of the experts
I have recently visited two neighbouring Federations to attend their Annual Council Meetings. They are part of our Northern powerhouse group and it is always a pleasure to meet up with our friends whether they are long standing or newbies. It’s also interesting to see how they conduct their meetings because just like individual WIs, all Federations do all the same things but sometimes in different ways and it’s these differences which make us all unique and which we can often adapt for our own groups.
One of the Federations had the National Chair, Jeryl Stone as its main speaker and the other Federation hosted a guest panel to discuss The Great Wool Debate, all about promoting the use of British wool in a range of settings. Two very different things but both extremely interesting just like your very own programmes of events each year.
Back to our own Federation, we have a fabulous day trip planned for you. Newburgh Priory on Wed 24th June. The applicaton form is with your Secretary, I hope many of you can join us for what I know will be a totally enjoyable day out.
Hope you all enjoy a happy Easter time however you celebrate and don’t eat too much chocolate in one go!
