The Committee was very disappointed to cancel the Domino Drive last month due to the small number of applicants. Traditionally this has been a very popular event so we would appreciate any thoughts you might have on why this was so. On a brighter note we have a variety of other events to offer over the summer months. Application forms for these are already with your Secretary or with this month’s mailing.
Tai Chi. Two sessions available at Cresswell House and are suitable for all. On Wednesdays, 6 or 13 July from 11am closing date 26 June. Suitable clothing to be worn. Cost £7 – a price freeze and includes lunch of cheese, pate and biscuits.
Annual Golf Challenge at Matfen. Tuesday 6 September – closing date 23 August. Cost £25, which is a good deal from Matfen. The match will be played on the par 3 course and is for golfers with an active handicap. Meet at Driving Range at 10am for a shotgun start at 10.30. Lunch and presentation to follow in Clubhouse. The trophy will need a polish.
Bellingham’s Car Treasure Hunt. Sunday, 25 September – closing date 13 September. Cost £8.50pp. Another price freeze! Join us to spend a glorious Sunday afternoon exploring the beautiful area of north Northumberland and be rewarded by a delicious WI tea. There is a staggered start from 1 until 1.30. Postcode details of the starting point will be confirmed, but will be in Belingham.
New Events!
Anyone for… Walking Cricket? The emphasis being on walking and with a soft ball. This taster event will be run by Cricketqube Limited who aim to encourage exercise for all by playing cricket anywhere and at anytime. Our session will be on Thursday 11 August from 11am for about an hour at Morpeth Leisure Centre. Cost £12.50. A much needed cup of tea/coffee to be served at the end of the session. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear. Closing date 28 July.
Croquet at Belsay. Imagine an idyllic late summer afternoon on the croquet lawn at Belsay on Friday 9 September. The two-hour session will begin at 13.45 (please wear suitable clothing and soft shoes to protect the lawn) and will be followed by coffee and cake in Belsay’s tea-rooms. Cost £12 and closing date is 25 August. Please note you will NOT be asked to pay English Heritage’s admission fee so we are asked to all meet at about 1.30 in the tea-rooms and a committee member will be there with details of participants.
The committee is aware of financial pressures and are rigorous in their costings. The more expensive events need to cover charges of the provider but we feel it is worthwhile to add some variety to the programme.

We look forward to and appreciate your ongoing support.
