Leisure – December 2022 Update

Our October meeting was very positive and we hope that in 2023 there will be events, old and new, which will spark your interest.
The response to my email has indicated that a Darts Competition next year is, regrettably, but understandably, a non-starter. However, we will take another chance on the Domino Competition. In this month’s mailing you will find forms for:
1. Domino Competition 2023. The format will be as usual but in the early stages of the draw the distance between teams will be considered. Remember, matches can be played in the afternoon or evening. Cost per team of 4 is £9. Closing date: 1 March with a view to running the competition from April to September.
2. Gardeners’ Question Time – 27 March. This event will be at Cresswell House from 7pm to 9pm. Sam Clark from Cowell’s Garden Centre will be with us to answer your gardening questions, offer advice and solutions for growing the right plants and rescuing those which die on us. PLEASE SUBMIT QUESTIONS WITH YOUR APPLICATION FORM so that they can be forwarded to Sam in advance to enable him to make a varied and representative selection. Sam will bring some plants for sale at the end of the evening. Cost per member £6.50, to include refreshments of tea and biscuits. Closing date: 14 March.
3. Whist Drive – 17 April. Anyone is welcome to attend this event, whether they have played before or not. We play a simple (if such a thing exists) form of Whist with the emphasis on fun and “getting to know you” as players move around tables OR stay put and welcome a new player to your table. This will be at Cresswell House from 7-9pm. Cost per member £8.00. This includes a finger-food buffet and a non-alcoholic drink. Closing date: 4 April.
The applcation forms for the above events are with your Secretary. Please remember early booking helps us with our final arrangements for the event. Other plans include Croquet sessions, provisionally booked for June, when it is hoped ladies who didn’t get to play in September can join us.
