On the 26th January in the Auction Mart Function Room Hexham, an intimate gathering from across Northumberland Federation WI’s celebrated the famous Robbie Burns with a Burn’s Luncheon.
David Jones the Piper, piped in the Honourable Guest the Haggis and made a magnificent address. Before members enjoyed a tradition Burns fayre our Chairman Marjorie Read gave the Selkirk Grace. Sheila and Elizabeth from Bellingham [pictured] along with several other WI members dressed for the occasion. Soft drinks and whiskey were offered in the toast to the Haggis. The food prepared by Hadrian Catering was well received especially the talk of the lunch the “Cullen Skink” – absolutely superb. David Jones was the hero of the day with his amazing playing on the bagpipes. Thank you to one and all for partaking in this new venture with Northumberland Federation of WI’s.
