Our programme of events for the Summer and Autumn is now in place. We hope there is something to tempt you. Pastel Drawings with Mags – Mags, a member of Shotley WI, told the story in WI Life of how doing a pastels drawing class for ”a bit of a laugh” has changed her life. Join her at Cresswell House for a class or classes and maybe it could change your life as well! The theme for the sessions is “Seasonal Mice”.
These are: Harvest 1, Halloween, Harvest 2 and lastly Christmas. Mags guarantees that at the end of all sessions you will have a drawing you will be proud of.
All sessions will be on Tuesdays. The first two will be on 3 September and 1 October. The closing date for these sessions is 22 August.
The second two sessions are on 5 November and 3 December with a closing date of 22 October.
Time is 10:00 for 10:30. Coffee and biscuits will be served. Sessions will finish at approx. 13.30. Please bring a packed lunch. The event is £25.00 per person per session which includes all materials.
August Stroll around Ponteland. We are pleased to resurrect this previously popular event, the last being in 2019. Join us on Thursday 8 August for a leisurely stroll and as we walk learn about the history of this now very busy village. A walk of less than 2 miles, with one slight
incline. All on good paths. Afterwards, treat yourself to supper in one of its many restaurants.Be prepared for all weathers with a bottle of water, an umbrella and sensible shoes.
The walk is from18.00 to approx 19.30 meeting at St Mary’s Church, beside an information board on a large grassy area with church in background. There is free car parking in the centre of Ponteland at Thorn Hill Road, NE20 9NN and also Merton Road,
NE20 9PY. Cost: £5.00. Closing Date: 30 July.
Jigsaw Competition. At Cresswell House on 14 October 14 between 11.00 and 14.00. You will play in teams of 3 (don’t have to be from same WI) and each team will have an identical 500 piece jigsaw to complete by the end of the session. The winners will be the first to complete or the closest to completion at the end of the session. There will be a break for a light savoury and sweet lunch which is included. The cost per person is £10. Closing date 1 September. An application form will be with July Newsletter.

Saturday, 9 November: So You Think You Can Or Can’t Sing! Jill Brown, who left her role as a teacher to become involved in the community to get people singing, will lead us in a session to find out! Who knows a WI choir might emerge. Full details to come.
Wednesday, 11 December: The Christmas Beetle Drive.
