Wylam WI are proud to announce that they were awarded 1st place for their display at this year’s Northumberland show. Their entry was entitled ‘A celebration of 110 years of the WI and 80 years since VE day’ was a heartfelt tribute to both the legacy of the Women’s Institute and the enduring spirit of the woman who lived through World War 11.
Combining creatively, history and teamwork, the display was a culmination of months of planning and preparation by our members. From vintage memorabilia and handmade crafts each element aimed to reflect the enormous contribution of WI members over the past century – and especially during wartime.
The judges praised the display for its attention to detail and visual impact. “This win is not just a trophy on the shelf – it’s a celebration of the past, present and future of the WI. it also reminded us of the importance of friendship, collaboration and shared history in everything we do”
