Slaley WI

Slaley the village or the WI didn’t do anything specific for VE day celebrations as we have been successful in incorporating the theme into our annual Slaley Show held in August with a VE day themed dressed peg doll into the handicrafts section and a VE poster design into the Children’s classes. What it has done though is to make us very aware that our village, despite its small size, has an enthusiasm for doing something special , like other villages admittedly, and the timing has allowed us to launch a community wide project to knit, crochet and make poppies to adorn the church wall in time for 11th of November. We have made patterns and wool available within our village shop and are pleased to say the response has resulted in nearly 300 poppies so far.
