Hello again – the mon
ths seem to fly by but at least we’ve had some amazing weather!!
I’ve got a bag of mixed bits and pieces for you this month so they’re unlikely to be joined at the seams but they’re all relevant…
First of all we’d like all of the WIs who don’t belong to a ‘Group’ to have a discussion with your members about the possibility of joining one. Groups are a benefit of your WI membership, as they give the opportunity – once or twice a year – to join with the other WIs in the Group and mix with other members, enjoy a delicious supper, and have an entertainment that wouldn’t normally be affordable to a single WI. There’s normally a reasonable charge, and please…Group Treasurers… allow the moths to fly out of the purses and ‘spend generously‘ on these events – they’re not a competition to see which Group can accumulate the most money, they’re to enjoy!
Next out of the bag is Adviser Training. We now have four on-line trained Advisers, who’ll be known within our Federation as ‘Pupil Advisers’ (like pupil barristers or midwives) and they will only undertake further Adviser training if they wish to do so. They are, however, fully qualified to preside over your Annual Meeting ballot for President – and more – so please welcome them if they come to your WI…they’re precious and much appreciated for taking on the role. Further Adviser training is very lengthy but one of our Pupils is currently involved and will be fully qualified in due course.![]()
The final ‘piece’ is a plea to come to our Workshops for Presidents and Secretaries – current or possibles, and we aim to be informative in the most informal way. We also host a ‘Newbies’ morning for those members who are new to the organisation. It too is informal, friendly and fun, and gives a little bit of background and information about the WI in general, and about the Federation and what goes on at Cresswell House. Information is with your Secretaries now and we’d love to see you there…
Now that my ‘bag’ is empty I’ll leave you in peace to enjoy the rest of the Newsletter – enjoy your WIs, and we hope to see you soon X
