If it’s not too late, Happy New Year ladies!! I hope you got at least one craft item from Santa and you were not visited by Krampus! I got coal in my stocking one year so I know the upset that can cause…I have been better behaved recently….. well that is my version of that story.
To start the New Year the ever-busy Craft Committee have several items on offer for the Spring…. Please try and support at least one event from our offerings in the coming year, we really do value your support
In February, we have Ruth Thompson, who even I recognised as being the lady who showed Robson Green how to make a bird feeder, she will be at Cresswell House on 22nd Feb, yellow sheet is out already.
Then in March we have the response to your ‘can I have a basic sewing machine class?’ and Kim Suleman will help you get to know your sewing machine and you’ll make a tote bag to confirm your skill acquisition (this is one Kim made earlier !) 6th March at Cresswell House, yellow sheet out already.
On March 22nd its an all-day learning opportunity, for those WIs who serve food to their own members or members of the public, you will need to acquire or update your Food Safety Certificate, your WI can pay for this out of funds, you can pay for yourself, or if you belong to another organisation who serve food they can pay for your attendance. It’s a whole day with a multi choice ‘test’ at the end. Kevin Johnson is our ever-knowledgeable tutor, sign up asap yellow sheet is out. Packed lunch required.
On March 25th, we will be filling Cresswell House demo kitchen with the delicious smells of Strudel Making, when new to the wider Federation ‘Strudel Lady’ Lucia Fisher, will create a thing of beauty, whilst you watch, take notes and marvel at its deliciousness…
.she will tell you about her life before she came to Northumberland and then once the strudel is ready you’ll get a slice to taste savour and enjoy, what a great way to spend a morning !
On April 5th a Saturd
ay morning spent in floral things, with Alison Scrimshaw who will demo then take you step by step through the Spring Flower Workshop, so that you’ll be taking home a floral creation of beauty, everything is provided as you’d expect, and, with Alison leading, it’s going to be an excellent session so sign up asap yellow sheets are out.
On April 12th as we build up to the chocolate fest that is Easter, we have the return of the Canny Chocolate guys, never known to disappoint, what better way to spend a Saturday session surrounded by Chocolate making, tasting and buying. It’s going to be good education for brain and taste buds!. Yellow sheets are already out.
So ladies that’s our offerings for the first quarter of 2025, if there is anything you’d like to see maybe a food demo you’d be keen to watch/taste or a skill/craft you have heard about and would like to have a go at then please let me or Kim or any member of the Craft Committee know and we will do our best.
