Congratulations!
To Carol Napper of Lancaster Park WI who was awarded the Karbon Homes Community Award for organising events and trips for members in her WI and a lot of generous work in the community.
Nominated by Marjorie Bolton – Carol is described as “just an amazing person who does so much for other people.”
And… Cramlington WI members were delighted when they heard the group had won ‘The Community Group Award’ at the recent ‘Love Cramlington Awards’, with a prize fund of £300. It plays a crucial role in acknowledging and celebrating individuals and groups who have made a positive impact in Cramlington. The award acknowledges the exceptional contribution made by a group that works tirelessly for the benefit of the town’s residents.
Cramlington’s President, Heather Cameron, said it was a privilege to receive the award on behalf of the group and for all our members to receive recognition for all their hard work and giving up their own time for litter picking, tree planting, charity fundraising and charity sponsored walks, monthly foodbank donations, decorating the town for the Remembrance Sunday parade and many, many more community activities.
Show the Love
Once again, the ladies of Cullercoats WI created a fabulous window display at The Newcastle Building Society, Whitley Bay. In addition to the array of handcrafted Green Hearts made using fabric, paper, thread, card and felt, posters made by Dorothy Knight explained what the campaign was about and encouraged everyone to look at the WI Campaigns and the Climate Coalition website.
Whey Aye WI collaborated with their local library to showcase a display of the ‘Show the Love’ green hearts since 2022. This year we broadened our reach by creating an additional display in our local Co-Op store. Our members delved into their extensive craft stashes to reuse and recycle materials, and crafted hearts in their own time, or at a get together we
held at our Northumberland Federation HQ.
