The Federation Craft Committee wish all members a very Happy New year. We have lots to offer this year and hope that regular crafters and those hoping to discover new talents will find our events interesting. We are also putting on additional events to raise funds to install screens and equipment to improve the demo experience in the kitchen.
As you read this the Committee have already held their first meeting of 2024, and as you would expect with so many creative ladies in one room there were lots of ideas plans and suggestions. So, I would like to recap on events already out for you to apply for (remember all craft events are on yellow paper) and introduce some new ones.
Pre-Easter Sweet Treats. On Saturday 23 March, Kevin Johnson will guide us though a treat filled Saturday, with cake, chocolate cream and all those things we love and perhaps had given up during Lent. Come along and learn how to make some delicious treats. As you would expect there will be tastings and a bag to take home all those you can’t consume. Packed lunch suggested. Cost is £17.50, with a 5 March closing date. The yellow application forms are already are with your Secretary or check the website for further details.
New out this month is our first fundraiser event which is the Spring Craft Day on Saturday, 13 April, a multi craft day with hot lunch provided. There will be 3 crafts (marzipan fruits, sew an embroidered flower and a no sew Spring wreath). Everything provided, so get signed up as the closing date will be noon on 19 March. Cost is £30. Places are limited to 30.
Then to celebrate World Bee Day, on May 18 at Cresswell House we are offering a multi craft day themed on bees and flowers, which we are calling Buzzy Bee Day. The day will be a hive of activity to complete three craft items.
All materials are provided as well as a light lunch for £30. Keep an eye out for the application form going out next month; closing date is 23 April. Limited to 30 places.
The Committee hope that with such a wide range of things on offer in the first few months of the year there will be something to pique your interest. We hope you will support us as we raise funds to get some technical equipment into the kitchen to improve your demonstration experience.
