I must apologise for having to cancel the gathering for the Northumberland Newbies event for new members on the 11 March, but the weather forecast was dire, and I was not prepared to risk life or limb to myself or anyone else. As it turned out the bad weather didn’t materialise, but we were not to know that. The meeting will now be rescheduled to take place in the summer months.
All the plans for the National Annual Meeting are now in place and we all know which resolution will be debated. WIs can now go ahead and discuss it with their members. Don’t forget to take a vote on it and let your delegate know the result. All WIs have already been informed as to who their delegate is. All WIs get one vote on the resolution – for or against. WIs may choose to give their link delegate discretion to decide how to vote after hearing the speakers and the debate at the Annual Meeting. Please ensure your WI makes it clear to your link delegate whether you are granting her discretion. The National selection  was Clean rivers for people and wildlife  with 36,736 votes.
Did you know? You can still apply online to attend the National Annual Meeting as a virtual observer. Tickets are available on MyWI and priced at £5. Closing date 16 May.
