The ever-busy Craft Committee have swung into action planning for the year at their last meeting, to give you advance notice of what we have planned so far:
• March: The Easter Craft Day where 3 items will be made (Easter paper box, chick and floral arrangement). Also provided is a light buffet lunch, and yes there will be chocolate! Yellow sheet is out so get filling it in.
• April: We will be running the second part of Get to Know your Sewing Machine’ and a session on Flying geese in patchwork.
• July: There is an all-day Italian bread making course planned.
• October: An embroidered landscape to keep mind and hands busy.
• November: A wreath making day.
So, plenty to look forward to already! For those WIs who contributed to the ‘what does the WI mean to you’ to coincide with the Queen’s Jubilee bunting creation, the bunting is now down from public display. So, if your WI would like your efforts returned for your own archive, then please let Nancy know via the office and I shall ensure they are ready for you to collect from Cresswell House. Those not returned will be kept wrapped in tissue in the archive room labelled to show who contributed.
New Competition!
The Board have agreed to hold a competition to select a card to send to HM the King, on the occasion of His Coronation, from Northumberland Federation. We would like you to create and make 2 identical cards (one to be kept in the Federation archive).
The Specifications.
1. The card must be no bigger than 10” x 10” or 25cms x 25cms.
2. The card must have a matching envelope.
3. The card and envelope must be ‘fit for purpose’ i.e., survive being posted to the Palace.
4. It must have an insert that says “Congratulations to HM The King.”
Entry fee is £1, information as to who made it & from which WI, must be separate from the card but sent in with the card for judging.
The Board of Trustees will judge the entries at the 10 April Board meeting, so closing date is to be noon on Tuesday 4 April 2023. Please don’t leave it until last minute to send in entries, as the postal service is erratic currently.
I hope there is something already planned to encourage you to attend one of our events, please let us know if you have something in particular you would like to have a go at?

Thanks and I look forward to hearing your ideas.
