The Craft Committee have just about recovered from the exertions of the June Competition Day, and are already looking at the entry numbers for our much delayed, rethemed Olympic/Commonwealth Games Competition Day booked for 17 September. A quick reminder if you are doing the poem, the closing date for that is different than for the other entries. I am excited at the sight of all the first place rosettes, the gold, silver and bronze themed award cards all packed up ready to go! Plus, who will win the Kathleen Jones Memorial Cup for Best Piccalilli? The winner gets to keep the cup, as does the winner of the Chairman’s Choice! But ladies, as they say, you have to be in it to win it – get those entry forms in!
I am pleased to announce application is open for the return of Victoria Conner of The Willow Barn, who having taught us dragonflies, then pigs, is now coming to teach us how to make willow garden spheres.
Priced at £65 this WHOLE day of willow weaving is being offered on either 10 or 14 October 2022, at Cresswell House. There is a choice of willow weaving a large one up to 40 cms which will take all day, or two smaller ones can be made. As when Victoria has been with us before, a pair of gardening gloves, apron and packed lunch are all you will need, please book on the yellow sheet.
Applications are still open just for the Harvest Foods demo with Sue Malloy on 5 September, as are the applications for Get to Know your Sewing Machine on 8 September. Again look out for the yellow sheets.
Well done to Rosie Harden-Vane for winning the Kathleen Jones cup for her lemon curd. Yummy it was too!
I wonder who will receive the next special Kathleen Jones cup for the picallili? ….
I look forward to seeing you at one or all of our planned events.
