Treasurer Message – October 2023

Calling all Treasurers! In the busy time when you are preparing for your WI’s Annual Meeting, can you be mindful that if you are using a Federation endorsed IFE (Independent Financial Examiner), you should give Cresswell House at least 6 weeks notice before your meeting, and your accounts need to be booked in with Nancy in ADVANCE of their arrival at the Office. This is to ensure an IFE is available, has enough time to properly examine your accounts and gives you time to ‘clarify any queries’ they may have about the books, in advance of their presentation to your full membership.
A reminder to Treasurers that, in the Spring, an invoice will be sent out requesting their WI’s share of the in-person delegates’ costs to attend the National Annual Meeting at the Royal Albert Hall, London in June. As yet, we do not know the number of delegates attending in person and the resulting cost, but we expect this to be higher than that charged last year for the meeting in Cardiff. We would, therefore, ask Treasurers to be aware of this and, if funds are low, perhaps a coffee morning, Christmas sales table, book or cake sale, or such, could be held to help cover the cost. We will, of course, let you know when definite figures are to hand. The figures are calculated using WI membership numbers from MCS so please ensure that your membership records are kept up to date.
