Thanks go to the 1853 members who took part in choosing the resolution to appear on the agenda of the National Annual Meeting in June – that’s 93.68% of the Northumberland Federation membership! The result is as follows: Public toilets (851), Women’s homelessness (493), Every child needs a friend (289), Love your vulva (104) and Nearer to nature (116) – there were 29 abstentions. Although the resolution on public toilets was the most popular in our Federation, we now await the result nationally and will notify you of this as soon as we have heard from National – look out for an email to your WI or visit the website!
Don’t forget to discuss and vote on the chosen resolution at your May WI meetings and make sure you advise your delegate whether you wish to vote “for” or “against”. Remember, you can give your delegate discretion to change the vote should further information come to light when she attends the National Meeting. Details of the delegates representing the WIs indicated in the Link List will be sent out shortly.
Resolutions and resulting campaigns are a huge part of the WI – this is an opportunity to raise awareness of a subject which could affect your families and friends – so make your voice heard and vote!
