As the nights are getting brighter, its time to start looking at getting back out and about, picking up those new experiences you thought about over winter, well now it’s that time.
On 20 April we will be running 2 separate sessions at Cresswell House. In the morning 10 for 10:30 it will be ‘Get to Know your Sewing Machine’ – for those with some experience. During the class you will explore what your machine can do and improve your confidence in how to use it. This session at £20 will include the PAT testing for those whose machine requires it. The session will explore all the stitches in your machine, you will learn about combining stitches, inserting zips, doing button holes, overcasting and decorative stitches. The session will include basic maintenance, you will be provided with fabrics, zips buttons to practise on and will leave at 12:30 with instructions to remind you of what was included in the session.
In the afternoon of 20 April at 1 for 1:30 will be ‘7 Ways with Flying Geese’. This patchwork block is very versatile and is incorporated into many patchwork projects. During the session you will be shown the 7 ways to sew this unit. Some techniques are ideal for scrap busting, whilst others lend themselves to making the blocks quickly. It is always worth trying out different ways as you will hopefully find one to call your favourite. Session ending approx. 3:30pm.
For either session – You have to bring your own sewing machine that is in GOOD working order, with a new needle in position. Bring all the sewing feet you have.
If your machine is over 1 year old and hasn’t been PAT tested within last 2 years it WILL have to be tested before the session starts. That will be arranged on a 1 to 1 basis after the closing date.
If, the tutor deems your machine does not fit this criterion, you will not be allowed to continue nor will you get a refund, you will however, be allowed to observe the session. Bring with you some quality threads, a marking pen, note pad pen/pencil and your glasses if you wear them. The classes will be run by the very experienced, talented and skilled tutor Kim Suleman, who is well known around the quilting world, so you will be learning from one of the best!
The cost for either of these courses is £20 per person, to be held on 20 April, closing date for applications is 4 April so get busy booking on the yellow form.
