Another month has gone by very quickly and by the next Newsletter we will have left British Summertime behind until March 2025, it doesn’t bear thinking about does it?

If your WI entered a team in the quiz and were successful in reaching the final, well done and good luck for Thursday 17th and the final at Cresswell House.

We have now had the final two Marj on a Mission events and I would like to thank everyone who came along to them and helped to raise money for the Federation funds.  I will also have attended Whitfield WI’s Centenary, The Literary Lunch and our Annual Council Meeting before you read this message.

It has in fact been a very busy time and I have to extend a lot of thank yous for the fact that the show has been kept on the road and I don’t mean the roadshows. In particular the two Vice Chairs  Barbara Kilkenny & Karen Coleman and Jenny McLean have done a tremendous amount of work in Nancy’s absence and I know that they will agree with me that were it not for Dee Ward and her technical skills you would not have received your mailing and Newsletters as punctually as you have done. I do also wish to thank all of you for your understanding and support at this time with the Office not being open every day and so, as they say, it’s a big thank you from me,

I know that you all recently received a communication about the distribution of the Newsletter and ways in which savings could be made. This is very pertinent now as the cost of first class postage is due to increase yet again. Of course in the main we do use second class postage but so often where one goes the other has a tendency to eventually follow. We shall be looking at your answers and will let you know the outcome in the next Newsletter. Please make sure that all your members have a chance to say in what format they wish to receive it in future and remember this is not about making members receive it a different way but it is about giving them a choice.

In the Treasurer’s message in the last Newsletter, Barbara reminded you all about the new WI Handbook. As Chair and as a WI Adviser can I suggest that every WI should either download their own copy or request one from Cresswell House. It has a lot of new and up to date information and it will help you all with day to day running of a WI and will also answer some of the questions that are often asked by newer members.

If at any stage over the past few weeks we have not replied to requests as promptly as you would expect please do bear with us and remember that like yourselves we too are all volunteers and in the slightly altered words of the wonderful late Eric Morecambe, we do have all the right words but may not necessarily be putting them out in the right order!

Thank you all again
