SUMMARY:Trinity House visit

DESCRIPTION:The Circular Walk at Rothbury will take place on Monday June 23rd. Meeting Point:  the United Reform Church\, Market Place.  NE65 7UW.  Coffee & cake available at 10:00 for a 10:30 start.   Wall walkers will start together but can choose to split if you are up for something more strenuous. \nYou will need to come prepared with appropriate footwear and clothing for any weather and a bottle of water. \nAn easy 4.5 mile walk by the river\, using paths and short stretch of road (one slight incline) \nThe other walk of 5.5 is rougher and more strenuous and can be muddy.  A 100m ascent is rewarded with wonderful views. \nLunch will be available back at Rothbury.   Closing date 30th May  Cost:  £14 per person

DESCRIPTION:Over the past few years our Literary Lunches at Hexham Mart have been excellent and so well supported that we decided it was time for more chances to dress up\, meet friends and have a lovely lunch followed by an interesting/amusing talk. In addition to our usual Lunch at The Mart around late September early October we are going to try and have two more Lunch events in different parts of the Federation and here’s the really exciting news\, the first one is all organised. \nThe venue will be Doxford Hall\, on Wednesday 28th May and the speaker will be the delightful Marie Thom and her talk entitled Midlife Dramas in Pyjamas which I know you will love. These new lunches will be called Lunch with the Chairman and the format is virtually the same with this time a two or three course lunch and speaker and still with a raffle. The second lunch is still in the planning stage and will be in a different part of the Federation. The application forms will be in your March mailing giving you plenty of time to buy a new frock! \nCost:  £40 per person.  Closing date:  13th May.

SUMMARY:Treasurer's workshop - refresher
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Treasurers’ Workshops have been arranged to give all treasurers\, new or experienced and everyone in between\, the opportunity to reinforce current knowledge and practice.  We hope you will bring your queries and discussion issues to the group\, where you will meet other treasurers and share your knowledge.  The sessions\, run by Rosie Harden-Vane\, are described below. \nAs usual there will be practical exercises as well as opportunity for discussion.  Please bring your own scrap paper\, pens\, pencils\, rubbers\, 12” ruler and a calculator. \nThe workshops are as follows: \n\nSession 1 Saturday 15 March\,10 am to approx 1pm: Beginners – from completing the Accounts Book to balancing the Financial Statement\, this is aimed at new treasurers with up to two years’ experience.\nSession 2 Saturday 5 April\,10am to approx 1pm: Columns and the Financial Statements – how to use Account Book columns and transfer totals to the FS to ensure the perfect  balance at year end.\nSession 3 Wednesday 23 April\, 6.30pm to 9pm: Refresher – aiming to cover everything a treasurer needs to know across the WI accounting year.\n\n\nFor Saturday sessions\, Cresswell House will open at 10am for registration and refreshments\, sessions starting promptly at 10.30am\, aiming for a 1pm finish.  For the Wednesday session\, Cresswell House will open at 6.30pm for a prompt 7pm start.    Closing date for all 3 events:  Monday 3rd March.  Cost: £5 per WI\, per session.

DESCRIPTION:Sadly this event has been cancelled\, we are awaiting details for a rescheduled date. \nThe craft committee are pleased to announce the much anticipated return to Cresswell House of the Canny Chocolate team on Saturday 12th April\, 2025  .  (Closing date:  25 Mar 2025) \n\n\nSession One:   Arrive 10:00 for 10:30 (welcomed by hot drink and biscuit) before you go into the demo kitchen for the 60 minute live chocolate demo\, tasting & presentation.  During this time Kevin will show you how he makes his artisan handcrafted chocolates and talk you through the tastings – it’s all educational obviously!   There will be samples to try and gifts to buy for others and yourself – bring your purse! \n\n\nSession Two: Arrive 13:00 for 13:30 – plan\, as per session one. \nCost:  £10 per WI member (£12.50 per non WI member\, if event is over subscribed\, preference will be given to WI members) \n\n

DESCRIPTION:Come along to Cresswell house and join us for a Spring Table Arrangement workshop.  Using Spring flowers and foliage\, be guided by Alison Scrimshaw\, an experienced tutor\, on how to produce a beautiful arrangement to complement your Easter decorations. All flowers\, foliage and materials will be provided. \n\n\nThis workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience.  (Closing date:  25 Mar 2025) \n\n\nAt the end of this tutorial you will be leaving with a beautiful Spring Table Arrangement\, what a great way to mark the start of Spring..   The price includes absolutely everything you need.  £15 per WI members (£20 for non members\, although preference will be given to WI members if over subscribed).   As space is limited\, an afternoon session MAY be available.

DESCRIPTION:Come to Cresswell House demo kitchen on Tuesday 25th  March\, 10 for 10:30\, to meet new to the wider Federation ‘The Strudel lady’\, on arrival you’ll be greeted with hot drink and something to nibble\, then go through to the demo kitchen to meet Lucia\, who will show you how to make delicious tasting Strudels’ and whilst its baking tell you about her life in Vienna\, then once the beautiful creation is ready and has filled Cresswell House with delicious smells you will get a slice to eat along with a hot drink! \n\n\n (Closing date:  10 Mar 2025)    What a delicious way to spend a Tuesday!  £15 per person \n\n

DESCRIPTION:If your WI serves food either to members or visitors\, it is strongly advised that at least one member of your WI has an up to date food safety level 2 Certificate  \n\n\nWe have arranged a Saturday course on March 22nd at Cresswell House\, with Kevin Johnson\, an accredited trainer\, to give you the opportunity to pass that ‘multi choice test’. \n\n\nCresswell house will open at 8:45 the course will start promptly at 9:30. You will need a packed lunch\, course will be finished by 4pm (Closing date:  4 Mar 2025 \nCost:  £32 per WI member (£37 for non WI members – however if over subscribed\, preference will be given to WI members) \n\n
