It is a truly amazing piece of art featuring a vast range of very detailed buildings and scenes. One of the original WI supporters of the project will share her insights and details of the work via a video recording. DESCRIPTION:We hope you will join us on a visit to Trinity House on Wednesday 25 September 2024 at 11am. Have a tour of this beautiful building in Broad Chare\, off the Quayside\, next to the Law Courts in Newcastle.  This charity was in charge of shipping and collecting fees from ships coming into the Tyne\, as well as lighthouses.  They got their first Royal Charter from Henry VIII so there is much history to explore with a professional guide.  The tour lasts approximately two hours including tea and biscuits. Unfortunately\, there are MANY STEPS into the building so this event IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS. DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 7 September 2023 join us for an interesting walk in this old cemetery\, the resting place for many famous local people.  Jesmond Old Cemetery is a Victorian cemetery in Newcastle upon Tyne\, United Kingdom\, founded in 1834. It contains two Grade II listed buildings and seven Grade II listed monuments as well as the graves of dozens of notable people from the history of Tyneside.There are many interesting (and large) headstones.  There are few established footpaths\, and the ground can be muddy.  Unfortunately\, it will not be suitable for wheelchairs or members with mobility problems.  The walk will be approximately 2 hours with tea\, cake\, and biscuits in the lovely South Lodge.  The price is £8. \nlosing date for entries is 25 August 2023.
