I do hope you are enjoying the new events the Craft Committee have been able to offer, I would like to update you on our plans (fingers crossed) to run our Competition Day in 2022. It will contain classes based on the postponed Olympic theme, as well as the Commonwealth games which are planned for Birmingham, so please don’t dispose of any of the item you have made for the Olympic themed schedule – save them for the new Games themed competition day, which we are hoping to hold at Stannington in the summer of 22, so many fingers crossed to make this happen. I
do hope you will be able to support us in craft, food and the floral themed classes. As the Committee work so hard behind the scenes trying to set classes that you will find interesting as well as demonstrating the huge amount of skill we have in our WIs.
As with last month, until WIs are meeting regularly you will be able make direct application to the office to attend any/all of these events, the yellow sheets are still being sent out as some WIs are able to start meetings again, so you don’t miss out make direct application to Cresswell House.
I end my piece by saying a huge thank you to Elaine Wallace & Jackie Gaughan, who after many years of creative contribution to the Craft Committee, have made the not easy decision to stand down. They have worked hard to make events happen, found tutors, run classes themselves, both given me sound advice and guidance, along with lots of good ideas about what we could do as a committee to engage the members. Thank you Both.
The remaining committee members are already thinking and planning more events, in particular starting the festive season, we have to plan so far in advance we will be discussing snow and Santa in August!
